Former hip hop mogul Marion “Suge” Knight has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and two counts of felony hit-and-run in connection with an altercation in a restaurant parking lot on January 28, 2015.
Mr. Knight plead not guilty to all charges at his arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court in Compton on Tuesday, February 3.
Prosecutors contend that Mr. Knight ran over two men with his pickup truck in a Compton burger shop parking lot during a dispute and fled the scene. Mr. Knight’s lawyers argue that the men were accidentally struck after Mr. Knight was ambushed and trying to drive away.
Mr. Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, is being held without bail.
At the time of burger shop incident, Mr. Knight was out on bail while facing felony charges related to an alleged robbery last fall. Mr. Knight is reported to already have two strikes in his criminal history for violent crimes. If convicted of the charges in the current case, “Suge” faces life in prison.
