Election Violations or Fraud

Enforcement of U.S. Code provisions that apply to federal elections fall under the responsibility of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and the Department of Justice. The FEC has exclusive primary jurisdiction for civil enforcement, while the Department of Justice has responsibility for criminal enforcement.

The vast majority of election violation cases are civil cases. They are consequently handled by the FEC and are settled through what is called a “conciliation agreement.” Such agreements, which result when there is, indeed, a violation, are negotiated between the FEC and the respondent in a confidential proceeding and incorporate civil penalties and admissions of violations.

The Law Office of Ronald G. Brower are experienced at defending individuals charged with violations of federal election codes, along with state and municipal codes. It is a complex legal specialty, and we encourage you to call if you or a loved one faces such charges.
