This past Thursday, a UCLA football player was arrested on three counts of rape related to an alleged incident that took place nearly one year ago.

After conducting what the LAPD characterized as a thorough investigation, police arrested and booked Adam Searl, 20-years-old, on October 8. Mr. Searl was released that same day after making $300,000 bail.

Mr. Searl is accused of sexually assaulting a female UCLA student at an off-campus party in Westwood. The female student later identified Mr. Searl as the perpetrator for police as part of their investigation.

Mr. Searl was the punter for the UCLA Bruins football team this season.

Following the arrest, UCLA football coach Jim Mora released a statement indicating Mr. Searl was suspended indefinitely from the team. “We have been informed of the situation involving Adam Searl, and we take these accusations very seriously,” Mora said.

Mr. Searl’s first court appearance is scheduled for October 29.
