A police pursuit Friday left four injured and the I-5 southbound closed. The chase began in Anaheim when officers attempted to stop a stolen Ford F-250. When the pickup refused to stop for police, officers pursued the truck onto the 57 freeway and then the I-5. The F-250 reached speeds on the I-5 of 90 miles an hour before colliding with a white compact car. The chase ended near the Camino de Estrella exit a mere 16 minutes after it had began.

After the truck crashed with the compact car it hit the divider leading it to flip and roll several times. At that point, the driver was thrown from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Other passengers in the F-250 were also injured but the extent of their injuries is unknown.

It is still unclear why the driver lost control of the truck. It is believed that spike strips caused the collision.

The freeway remained closed until 11p.m. and caused major traffic congestion for miles.
